Saturday at Evans Mills speedway on the asphalt, we brought home a 3rd
place finish, but all good things must come to an end. The class and rules where originally set up to be DIRT Modifieds
racing on Asphalt, but things started changing at the 1st race. First a Late Model which is not even an "open wheel"
car was allowed to start racing in the class, a totally different car. Then sail panels started showing up, they are like
the giant side wing like we run on our "Run Whatcha Brung" car. After protesting after the 1st race of the season,
I was called last Wednesday and told that sail panels would not be allowed, and not to bring them. I get to the track, and
guess what? The sail panels are there and even more cars have them. I protested because I was told not to bring them, but
I decided to race because of the 2 hour drive to the track and the money already spent. But without those side panels, my
car didn't stand a chance of winning due to the difference in aerodynamics. The track also changed the written rules, and
the class name was changed to "Open Outlaw" class. So if it was to be an open class, I informed the
track that I would be bringing my own car with sail panels this week, so I wouldn't be outclassed by these cars. On Wednesday,
track management called me and told me that they had decided that they will continue to allow sail panels wings etc., but
I was specifically told that I could NOT bring my "Run Whatcha Brung" car. At that point, I informed the track
that I would no longer be racing there. Now I have found out that the car that won last weeks race is owned by the track
management's family, and the driver works for them, so that explains a lot. And guess what? I haven't been paid for last
week's 3rd place finish. Therefore we have decided to change our schedule, and we will be racing at Can-Am Speedway
in LaFargeville on most Saturday nights. We raced Can-Am 3 years ago finishing 8th in final points, but with already missing
3 races there this year, it will be an uphill battle to finish in the top 10 this year. We will be racing our 358 DIRT Modified
at this track. We will still be racing in the DIRTcar Pavement series, as well as fitting in some other races, so keep an
eye on the schedule.
